Will a Custom Badge Damage My Car's Paint?

    Quick answer

No, our 3M™ Automotive Adhesive is paint-safe and OEM-grade. Learn how to remove a custom badge safely with zero paint damage.

    The Short Answer

No, if removed correctly, Badge My Auto emblems leave zero paint damage.

    How the Adhesive Works

We use automotive-grade 3M™ Automotive Adhesive, the same tape OEMs use to attach factory badges. It bonds strongly to paint but releases cleanly with the right removal technique.

    How to Remove Without Damage

    1. Use a heat gun or hairdryer on low to warm the badge for 30 seconds.
    2. Slide dental floss behind the badge with a sawing motion to cut the tape.
    3. Pull the badge away slowly at a low angle.
    4. Apply adhesive remover (Goo Gone or 3M™ equivalent) to dissolve residue.
    5. Buff clean with a microfiber cloth.

    What to Avoid

    • Never pry with a metal tool, risk of scratching.
    • Never pull the badge straight out, risk of paint chip on older or compromised clearcoat.

    FAQ

I have fresh paint, is it safe?

Wait at least 30 days after a paint job before applying any adhesive.

    What about matte paint?

Adhesive remover can affect matte finishes. Use isopropyl alcohol only for removal, and test a hidden area first.
