The Finish
Fading and yellowing are what make cheap badges look bad after a summer. Our metal badge colors are plated and clear coated for outdoor exposure, so polished and satin surfaces keep their depth instead of going dull and cloudy. Acrylic badge colors use pigment systems and top coats selected for UV stability, which is the difference between a color that holds and one that goes pastel on the sun facing side of the car.
What actually shortens finish life is abrasion, not weather. Compound, rotary buffers, and stiff brushes take the shine off far faster than sunlight ever will.
The Adhesive
Automotive adhesive is a load spreading structural bond, not a sticker. It holds through freeze and thaw cycles, hot panel temperatures, high pressure rinses, and highway airflow. Automakers use it because it stays put for a decade or more without fasteners.
When a badge does come loose, the cause is almost always at install:
- Wax, sealant, or quick detailer left on the panel, which is the number one cause.
- Application below about 50 degrees Fahrenheit, where the adhesive never fully wets out.
- Washing inside the first 24 hours before the bond closed the edges.
- Mounting across a body line or a curved lip so the badge is under constant spring tension.
Wipe the spot with isopropyl alcohol, apply in mild weather, press hard for 30 seconds, and wait a day. That is the whole recipe for a badge that stays.

We do not sell magnetic backings, because a magnet traps grit against the paint and only works on steel panels, while the adhesive holds on any smooth painted surface and spreads the load across the whole badge.
Where You Park Matters More Than You Think
A garaged car in a mild climate is easy mode. A truck that lives outside in coastal salt air or Arizona sun is a harder assignment, though still well within what these materials handle. Rinsing salt off in winter and giving the badge the same wax or sealant you give the paint keeps it looking new on the long end of the range.
Simple Care Routine
- Wash with pH neutral shampoo and a soft mitt, working around the badge rather than scrubbing it.
- Seal it when you seal the paint. Spray sealant and ceramic coatings are both fine.
- Clear dust from lettering with a soft detail brush.
- Rinse road salt off promptly in winter.
- Keep abrasive compounds and rotary polishers off the badge face.
